HEALTHY SUPER BOWL PARTY BITES

Football season is wrapping up!

I may not be a huge football fan but I will never say no to hosting a Super Bowl Party or attending one. However, most Super Party menu items tend to be fried or not the healthiest of choices. If you don't want all the guilt after the party but plenty of deliciousness, I urge you to try some of these fabulous recipes.

In my opinion, the perfect party bites for any get-together is made up of 5 categories:

1. Crunchy Munchies

2. Delicious Dipper

3. Bite-sized Proteins

4. Cheesy Toppings

5. Sweet Endings

Our first recipe is hits the Crunchy box! This ZUCCHINI PARMESAN CRISPS

recipe is brought to you from Damn Delicious. Here she combines crisp fresh zucchini slices topped with bread crumbs and Parmesan to give it that crunch once pan fried in canola oil. The Parmesan gives it a little saltiness and is a great substitution for regular bagged chips.

If you need something cool and creamy to dip the slices into, try adding this CHIPOTLE LIME RANCH DIP on the side. Once I discovered I could use a Greek yogurt as a healthy substitute to the typical mayonnaise and sour cream base of most dips my healthy party dip options doubled! I like using FAGE 0% or 2%. The consistency is very thick and the most similar to sour cream. Adding different types of ingredients to change the flavor like Sriracha, Chipotle, cilantro, parsley, citrus juices (lemons and limes), garlic, dill and avocado is easy. I enjoy experimenting with different combinations to create unique but healthy dips and dressings. To liquefy the consistency to a dressing add vinegar, wine or citrus juice as the acid and a little olive oil.

This BUFFALO CHICKEN MEATBALLS by The Tidy Mom replaces the typical chicken wing option. Not only is it simple to make it is also the perfect guilt-free bite sized protein. These meatballs are made with ground chicken and seasoned with your favorite buffalo sauce.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 pound ground chicken

  • 1 cup panko crumbs (or dry bread crumbs)

  • 1 (1 ounce) packet ranch dressing mix

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 clove garlic, minced

  • 1/2 cup buffalo wing sauce (divided)

  • 5-6 green onions, finely chopped

  • 1 teaspoon celery salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon onion flakes

  • salt and pepper, to taste

ranch or blue cheese dressing for dipping (or drizzle)

Next up, is something that will look decadent and fatty but because of the way it is sliced and cooked is actually a great low cal option: BAKED GARLIC PARMESAN POTATO WEDGES.

These beauties have so much flavor and the fact that they are baked vs. fried, makes these a great healthy option. The Parmesan gives them the perfect touch of saltiness and adds to to crunch you expect from a fried potato. Dip into some ketchup or that delicious Buffalo Ranch Dip for a zingy option.

The Game is almost over, and everyone has devoured all your delicious goodies! Bring out one last tasty sweet treat: APPLE 'NACHOS' with CHOCOLATE & PEANUT BUTTER. The crispy bite of the apple vs the smooth salty peanut butter and sweetness from the chocolate will satisfy even the most pickiest of guests leaving them shouting out "TOUCHDOWN"!!
