With Spring Comes New Life

I have never really considered myself an outdoorsy girl until I couldn't be outdoors anymore. Growing up in South Florida, Miami to be exact, meant I always had access to temperatures that allowed me to spend as much time enjoying the outdoors as I liked. Once we moved up North, I realized how much I had taken that for granted when I experienced my first real change of season and especially my first Winter. I honestly am not built for the cold and had never been cooped inside for as long as I have been these last 3 years living in Virginia, so when any signs of a true Spring Day appear, I am jumping for JOY!!

I love to feel the sunshine on my skin, the warmth it brings, and the way everything looks. I love seeing the grass a vivid green and once the flowers start to bud, it really is like nature throwing it's own little Welcome Back party. I look forward to putting away the boots and the heavy coats, eliminating all the extra layers and pulling out the sun dresses from hiding. I get to step up my fitness in anticipation for less clothing and showing off more skin. It is all these small things that bring me great amounts of happiness.

Today was a perfect 74 degrees with clear skies. Today was a perfect Spring Day. And for that, I am happy and grateful and hope it continues. I want to continue to bask in the sunshine, see my boys playing in the yard with their cute little shorts and flip flops, end the day with a cool glass of Chardonnay. If Spring could be here to stay, I will be one happy lady!

As I watched my body change slowly from Spring to Summer for the worst last year, I felt powerless. I kept indulging, making bad and unhealthy choices but that was just part of the vicious cycle. The softer, flabbier and more lbs I put on, the more depressed I got, and the worse I treated my body.
